Belinda Celis Basaca, M.D.

As the mother of two children, Belinda Basaca, M.D., has great empathy for parents and a clear understanding of her young patients' health needs.
Her caring and compassion are underscored by experience and expertise. Prior to establishing New Health Pediatrics, P.C. in August 2004, she worked for private pediatric practices in Port Washington and Wantagh, N.Y.
Dr. Basaca's post-graduate training includes the completion of a residency in Pediatrics at Schneider Children's Hospital at North Shore in Manhasset, N.Y. She received her medical degree "with distinction in research" from Albany Medical College, where she also earned a Master of Science in biochemistry and microbiology.
Dr. Basaca has published papers in medical journals and received many awards for exceptional academic and community service activities. At Albany Medical College, her honors included: the Frank C. Maxon, Jr., M.D. Alumni Award for Outstanding Graduating Medical Student, the Arthur W. Wright Award for Outstanding Contribution to Public Services, the Lindsey Baron Foundation Award for "building a professional career founded on 'acts of kindness,'" and the Community Service Award. Union College also presented her with the Bruce M. Garber Award for Personal Integrity and Humane Concern for the Future Practice of Medicine.
Dr. Basaca is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), Nassau Pediatric Society, North Shore Physicians Organization and the Electron Microscopy Society of America.
Devoted to promoting medical education, she was a member of the Advocacy Club and founder and head of the Breastfeeding Awareness Program for Pediatric Residents at Schneider Children's Hospital at North Shore. She is also known for her devotion to her community, serving on the Advisory Committee to the Glen Cove Youth Board and the Safe Kids Coalition of Long Island. She is also a member of the Child Abuse Prevention
Services, a volunteer-based organization on Long Island that teaches the community about pertinent issues
such as bullying and physical abuse among children. Additionally, Dr. Basaca was recently seen on The Learning Channel's "A Baby Story."
Dr. Basaca's brain child, New Health Pediatrics, offers home visits to newborns and emergency sick visits as well as breastfeeding support, child advocacy, natural skin-care consulting, car seat safety checks, and children space and event design.
